Hold Your Head Up High

I'm always taking on a warrior spirit when I'm out and about.  Hell, I try my best to get out of bed feeling this way.  It isn't that I intend to come up against negativity or the common everyday asshole; well, it's just good to be prepared.  There is nothing wrong with going out with your spirit in fierce confident mode.  There is something to be said about standing tall, holding your head high and your shoulders back.  They've done plenty of studies to prove that how you carry yourself is how people perceive you. You will be treated with more respect if you are standing tall and confident.  Holding your body with respect doesn't just work with how you're perceived, it also works inwardly.  Yes, you will benefit with how your hold yourself.  So, do like I do - fake it until you feel it.

"The results show how our body posture can affect not only what others think about us, but also how we think about ourselves, said Richard Petty, co-author of the study and professor of psychology at Ohio State University.
“Most of us were taught that sitting up straight gives a good impression to other people,” Petty said.  “But it turns out that our posture can also affect how we think about ourselves.  If you sit up straight, you end up convincing yourself by the posture you’re in.”  https://researchnews.osu.edu

This is a huge part of yoga, taking on the poses with embodiment.  Honestly every time I get into warrior 2 pose, I can feel the fierceness of the pose.  I wrote an IG post not long ago regarding this and how I needed to be this warrior spirit on behalf of my mother.  It's like how you are with your children - being that mother bear - protecting them at all cost.  You also need to protect yourself.  I feel this way about my mother or whoever it is I'm helping to look after, someone who has depleted energy due to an illness.  Sometimes being your own advocate doesn't start with loving and protecting yourself, it starts from being that caring, strong advocate that you are for a loved one who is in need.  That's where it began for me.

So, know that you are worth all the wonderful things in this life.   Be like that warrior spirit and live your life with confidence, strength, love, and most of all, courage.   Stand up not only for yourself, but for those around you who are in need.

“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
