Being Mindful Of All Things

The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.

Jersey Girls Heading South To Virginia Tech

  • Who knew so many black cows existed along HW-81

  • Virginia is for lovers and for speeding tickets; this time around I was sure not to get one

  • White houses with huge greek pillars stood tall on the many hills along the highway, seem to be a theme

  • Blue Ridge Mountain pass is exceptionally magical when dense fog lays thick on the mountain like a blanket

  • Seven hour trip that turned into 10, apparently we entered a portal through the Shenandoah Mountain pass and went into a time warp

  • Seeing an owl and knowing how special that is and then looking back at your kids watch you like you are some freak

  • Newly-anointed teenage daughter can roll her eyes like a pro and make you feel like a dumb ass without opening her mouth

  • Starbucks can make a rainy day shine with hope

  • NJ girl can pump her own gas and not deal with the nasty vibe guy at the gas station (I'm an empath) who won't even acknowledge her existence-  in this case technology is better than human interaction

  • Sleeping in a nice hotel and only getting 2 hours of sleep, because you're freaking out deep down inside... knowing that your little girl could be moving "SEVEN" hours from you- for a total of five years... and you don't know how the hell you're going to handle not seeing her EVERYDAY of your life

  • Realizing that fast food sucks and if you want to eat healthy your options are very limited- Good time to do a fast

  • I don't recommend eating half a bag of sunflower seeds - leaving you then with no taste buds left on you tongue; ouch

  • Driving on ice sucks

  • My new spirit animal is the Owl; duh

Alternatively Owl is often thought to come to those who need to let go of some part of their life that is no longer needed. Listen carefully to that inner voice and be guided to recapture the knowledge of your true path in life. Owl’s senses pierce through shadows, beyond fear and darkness, through to the other side that promises light, happiness and knowledge.

The way to live in the present is to remember that ‘This too shall pass.’ When you experience joy, remembering that ‘This too shall pass’ helps you savor the here and now. When you experience pain and sorrow, remembering that ‘This too shall pass’ reminds you that grief, like joy, is only temporary.
