The Alchemy Of Yoga

Any seemingly magical process of transforming or combining elements into something new (Alchemy)

I like to think of myself on a whimsical note as an alchemist working on something more prized than turning base metals into gold, but more importantly working diligently to burn away all false beliefs that are holding me back in this life.   To me, the practice of yoga is the work of the alchemist.

Yoga literally means “union”. This union can be understood on different levels: philosophically, as that of the relative, limited self with the absolute Self; religiously, as that of the individual soul with the Infinite Spirit; psychologically, as the integration of the personality – a state wherein a person no longer lives at cross-purposes with himself; emotionally, as the stilling of the waves of likes and dislikes, permitting one to remain in all circumstances complete in himself.

Coming to your mat with a focus on awareness, an awareness of the body in the pose (how do your pinky toes feel in Mountain pose?), an awareness of the state of the mind, an awareness of what the body is saying (do you feel pain, discomfort, anxiety?), an awareness of the emotional heart, an awareness of your breathing, an awareness of your intuition's quiet voice, and finally with you as the alchemist transforming all the elements of yourself into completeness.

Completeness without judgment; not lacking, but observing oneself as perfectly imperfect.

Namaste~
